It seems like most (all?) KR builders are beginning with the fuselage. Does the
construction have to begin with the fuselage, or can you build wings &
empennage first? Workshop space is limited, and it's easier to store flat
pieces out of the way than it is to work around an assembled fuselage.
I'm weighing building a KR vs. a Sonex and would like to talk with current KR
builders or pilots.
The Sonex doesn't have the performance potential and frankly, it's a bit
homely. But it does have superb plans and outstanding factory support.
The KR on the other hand has (as I have read but not

at least not that can be traced to not using a copper seal.

Hi Robert,
What kind of shape is she in? Any noteworthy damage history? Is the airplane
currently airworthy? If not, what does she require (as best you know) to be
made airworthy, etc.

The specs for the McCauley 7447 on my Luscombe allow up to 1/4" tracking
error, so you may be OK. Or you may want to have it overhauled.

Hi Dan,
Make sure that you're not using noise suppressing plugs with noise
suppressor wires (just one or the other please).

Hi Chuck,
Where are you and the airplane? I'm in Lakeland, so I don't believe I'm too
far away.

I'd love to meet up with any of you who may be coming to Lakeland.
I hope to begin building as soon as I finish my current project which is a
complete restoration of a '46 Luscombe (do ever really finish?), and the KR

Please let me know if you're going to be at Sun 'n

Yes, I have.
Perhaps I'm oversimplifying it a bit because I have considerable experience
in engine building. Still, with some experienced guidance, it's well within
the capabilities of anyone who can build an airplane.

Upgrading all the way up to 2180 is easily doable with your current engine
by replacing cylinders and sometimes crankshaft - easy and not too
expensive.

I just caught the tail-end of a news story about an experimental aircraft

afternoon. I only got a brief look at the damaged airplane, but it certainly
looks like a KR-2.

Hi all,
I'm mostly a lurker here. I'm currently restoring a '46 Luscombe and
strongly considering a KR as the next project.
I live in Lakeland, about 1.5 miles south of the center line of runway 9/27.
I'd love to meet some of you, and talk about your KR experiences over a beer
or two. There is

I'm having a difficult time finding a KR2 or KR2S in the area to try on for
size, so I'll just ask. I'm 6' and 195-200lbs.
What's the liklihood that I'm going to be able to get in and close the
canopy? I fly a Luscombe now (2 place with 36" wide cabin) so I'm used to
close quarters, I'm more co
I think that the biggest challenge is likely to be demonstrating a stall
speed of less than 45kts (52mph). Then all that's left is to limit the max
level speed at sea level to 120kts. Everything else is fine.
It seems to me that this should all be entirely possible.

Hi all,
I've been a lurker here for a month or two. I'm considering a KR2S, but am
not sure that I'd fit comfortably. I'd love to meet some of your KR owners
and maybe get a chance to try one on for size.
Anyone going to Oshkosh who wouldn't mind giving me a quick KR2 tour?

I'm very interested in the KR2S, but would really like to try one on for
size before I make a decision to purchase a set of plans.
Anyone KR2 owners in Florida who would like to show me their airplanes?

Lee
