Hi Brian & thanks for you reply,

I'd consider myself quite handy, and with a very well equipped shop. But, I'm a
stranger to composites. I have no doubts that I can build a KR or Sonex (which
I would mostly scratch build anyway).?

I'm going to order a set of KR2S plans from NvAero soon; does anyone know what
the current delivery time is running lately?

If you are just a little bit handy and you know how to use tools you
really don't need any support at all to build a KR. People cranked out
KRs in no time at all in the early days when there was no internet and
very few parts available. Most people will want to buy the canopy,
engine mount, landing gear, and wing attach fittings and they are not
all that hard to come by and most you can get cheap from languishing
projects. Everything else you can get from Spruce or Wicks. Any any
questions you have you can get an answer here or on a ton of builder
sites. If you are not handy and you need each step spelled out and all
your parts numbered (not trying to insult anyone, we all have things
that we are good at and an equal balance of things we are not good at)
then build a kit plane.

I'm weighing building a KR vs. a Sonex and would like to talk with
current KR builders or pilots.

The Sonex doesn't have the performance potential and frankly, it's a bit
homely. But it does have superb plans and outstanding factory support.

The KR on the other hand has (as I have read but not seen) less than
superb plans, and nothing quite like the support of the Sonex folks.
But it's performance is more inline with my requirements and I believe
it's more amenable to my building intentions (buying parts & materials
as I go along vs. ponying up a large lump sum to buy a full kit).

I'd love to meet and discuss the KR2(S).

Regards,
Lee
