C'mon Virg.
Lighten up!
If a person puts a stock distributor on an engine. it's got all the
"advance" provisions that it was designed with available.
Only magnetos, which have no advance mechanism built into them, fall into the
fixed timing trap.

Hi Pete.
I was born in Canton and raised near there in Magnolia.
Live in Naples Fl. now, but get up there in Aug.-Sept after Oshkosh.

You're all right about most of the guys in the tower etc not getting the type
of airplane right. But it's not because they aren't trying. These guys are from
all over the country... and how many tower operators ever see that many home
builts?

Hi all. Hope we get a BUNCH of KR's at Oshkosh.
I will be there helping to move any & all of you around the airport.

Dear Jeff.
Since this is friday..
Can't really help much on your questions about weight/power, but your
being from Denver makes me think of a KR builder I knew when he lived in
Ohio & had a KR2-S well along. He had a Cont 0-200 (two actually) ready
to go on his. The last I knew of him, he was
Not many of you are old enough to remember a gentleman named Max Conrad
who set many long distance records in the 50's and 60's.
He claimed to have achieved these long distance flights by flying only a
few feet above the sea and staying in ground (sea) effect.
Must have worked OK for him.

Would an engine built out of certified parts, but without a name tag be
considered a home made engine?
That's what my engine will be. I started with an 0-200 crank and a spare
case, milled and bored the case to accept a fuel pump, found a C-90 cam
which has the lobe to drive the fuel pump (has the
Hi netters. Since this is friday, I'll post these for sale.
Several months ago I won a lot of the small Grimes wing tip nav lights
on e-bay. I picked out two for my use and fixed the others up with a
missing lens and bulbs.
They are complete now and ready to install. Have one red, one green.

I don't know if it's just here in southern Florida (possibly due to
having alot of airboats), but we can get Shell 100W at several different
auto supples and also at Sam's club. About the same price.

The major reason that the Lycoming has one lug larger than the rest is
to index the hub. This is because the timing marks are stamped on the
hub and line up with a punch mark on the starter housing.

The subject of sealed batteries came up.
For those of you who haven't heard about them yet they have been on
the market now for about 6-8 years.
Concorde battery started with the technology and now Gill also sells
them for aircraft.
This are available for certified A/C and come in all the s
Hi all. That damged KR2S may have been the one that Bob Wetzel built. He
passed away several years ago and I don't know what became of it. I know
that the last time I saw it, it was painted all white. How about you,
Ron Freiberger, are you still on the net. He knew the plane too.

Someone asked how a new harness would attach to a 2000 series Bendix
mag.
As far as I've ever seen, they always come with a new back plate and it
simply attaches to the mag with 4 screws. These screws only get torqued
to 35 inch lbs, so you need a very low scale torque wrench. Over
torqueing can l
Mark My sentiments exactly. You're doing a fine job with the KR net

Don't let a few hot heads Pee you off.

Hi Tim.
Good luck with your painting.
As for camping with your plane at Oshkosh... you can bet that LOT's of
guys do it. I even heard yesterday that a new campground has been
created (with showers) for area 51. This is the area to to NW of the
main show area and south of the warbirds. This area i
Hi netters. The requirement to have a remote panel switch (as well as a
way of determining that the ELT is on... either via a light or by
audible tone. plus a way to silence it from the panel) was by way of
a change to F.A.R. 91.
This change occurred back in 1995 and was a simple change requir
One thing to check for if you have an older kit. Some of the early Diehl
nose gear struts were made of fiberglass. These were prone to snap off
with any shimmying.
I believe Diehl was offering to replace those early ones with steel ones
for no cost.
You MUST treat the nose gear on these planes wit

Hi Netters. Tried twice to send an amended letter to the net. Sorry.
What I was trying to do was answer Brian Kraut's letter about meeting up
for a Bbq. I told him there is no particular place that I can think of
to hold this. I also told him that the first one to arrive should come
back out to th
Don't forget if you are building a KR2S, the fuselage is already
streched 14" aft of the cabin.
If you want any more than that, adding 1" to each bay would net you 14
more inches.

Hey Larry... maybe we should tell the folks that what you recommend

The word "autogas" may be the right word.
In certified aircraft that are switched over to auto fuel, there is
nothing special done to the carb or the engine.

Hi all. I'll echo Dana's comment about not near enough KR's showing up.
It's the same at Oshkosh. Seems the consensus must be that if a person
doesn't have a trophy winner, they won't bring it to the shows. We want
to see ANY and ALL KR's. Please bring them.

Hi all. Forgive me if this has been posted before, but I've been

A friend e-mailed me today and told me there is a KR2S project
