Your plane sure looks nice.
Thanks I like the look of it too,
I'm using 5048 at the root and the 5046 at the tip.
The wings as you see them there still have to get the 8" tip extensions

Hi all,
I've been flying with a friend in his Cessna 210 over the weekend,
and discovered he is using a great idea for a sunshade.
This guy also owns a Rutan Varieze so is very conscious of weight, an issue for
all of us KR2 builders.
His sunshade is simply a piece of A4 size paper,

It may be firing at TDC but is it on the compression stroke or the exhaust
stroke?? I would be easy to make this simple mistake.
You need to put your finger over the plug hole while turning it to TDC, so
you can feel compression. If you don't feel any its on the exhaust stroke.

Mark I hope you have an engine driven pump as well!!
If not what happens when you've run one tank dry, and the pump on the other
fails?
Does this leave you without a backup pump?? wouldn't matter if you had
gravity feed but tanks in the wings need at least two bumps in series for
redundancy.
Gav
Oh!! and nobody has mentioned the use of tissue for the final layer of the
fuel tank construction. That's two layers if bid and one layer of tissue to
seal the weave in the BID that's what I've used and all seems well.
Gav
Phil if you are having trouble with V.E staying tacky you need to add wax in
styrene to it for the final coat.
The wax floats to the top of the resin while it's curing excluding the air,
which is what needs to happen for V.E to cure properly.
Gav

That's not gum on the surface, it's uncured resin!!! the resin with the wax
in it does cure completely and sands very well without clogging the paper,
but you do need to sand it before you recoat it if you let it completely
cure.
The resin I am using is unwaxed and I'm adding wax in styrene to the

The waxed resin doesn't actually leave a waxy surface on the cured resin,
It's as hard as hell. It's the resin without wax in
I Have found wax in styrene isn't waxy at all It's as runny as Avgas and is
added at only a maximum of 5% by volume. It's not even waxy to feel before
it's added to the resin, more like water.
And at those low percentages there isn't even enough of it in the resin to

U you wouldn't need to sand them ! but you also don't want to
have uncured resin in there either.

Build the tanks in the outer wing panels, I've got about 38 U.S gallons in
mine and no header tank.

The fuel gauge is from the local marine shop, they come from the stainless
steel cruise tanks, it's called a sailmaster. Spruce sells something
similar, I've used these ones because everything I get from spruce seems

Hey Mark what are you going to cover that wing attach area with?? you've got
quite a gap to fill.
Gav
I'm thinking fuel pressure gauges, and all I can find locally is the mechanical
type!!!.
I was after an electric one with a pressure sender to keep any potential leaks
outside the cockpit.
What do most use ? is the mechanical type with a capillary tube acceptable ??
Gavin
But surely if you have a redundancy system in the form of two fuel pumps,
wouldn't it would be nice to test both before heading off into the wide
blue.
Gav
> Forget the fuel pressure gauge. Fuel flow is what you want, if the fuel
is flowing then you must have fuel pressure. A good fuel >
Well I seem to have stared a very small debate about whether I should
actually have a fuel pressure gauge.
But that was never in doubt for me, I have always intended to use one.
The question was. Are almost everyone using a mechanical gauge or are most
using an electrical gauge

I've just finished closing up my left wing tank and glassed the entire bottom

HI All,
I've been glassing the underside of my wing stubs and the inside of my wing
