Zach's KR has an O-200 and had the old Delco pull type starter that's akin to the 1950s Chevy foot starter.  That type of starter has a sprag clutch to drive the Bendix that that is around $650 to replace when it fails.  I killed two of them in my KR before I upgraded to a much lighter Sky-tec star

Starters Steve Bennett used Suburu starters on his engines . . . don't know how far back.  He considered them the best of the bunch.  I can say I've never had a moment's trouble with the one on my 2180.  My earlier KR had a Revmaster & I don't know what Joe uses.  Anybody? Mike-- KRnet mailing
