The engine driven fuel pump on my 2180 VW will only flow fuel if the engine
is running. That's a safety feature of the pump originally designed for the
automobile installation. To get fuel to the engine for starting, I put a
check valve in parallel with the engine fuel pump; this bypasses the
look into an inertia switch, common on Ford's of 86-95 on many models, rear
left corner on most of them. Their specific purpose was to cut fuel in the
even of a crash, this was prior to the obdII generation so it's just a
simple switch and a simple reset process. Might be what your looking for?

Larry,
What I want to be "automatic" is to have my electric fuel pump shut off if I'm
disabled due to a crash. If the fuel system is compromised the chances of being
roasted to death increase greatly. If I'm flying and the engine stops, I'll
switch to the backup fuel pump and distributor points
