That was kind of what I was thinking too. It is too difficult to get in there
sand and the integrity of the wood might be a concern as well. If I understand
correctly , a hot iron should do the trick for removal ?

Those spars look to be water stained. If true, then the plywood would be
suspect. The ply can be removed and replaced.

HI All;
I tried to post some pictures of spars that I picked up in a parts buy and am
wondering about thoughts on cleaning these up for eventual use.
I have been sanding some and it seems to work fairly well but very tedious.
It does not seem like mould but I could be wrong, is this something a
