I think the only flaw in the original plans regarding CG, is the aft 2
inches allowed. I think the problem is that there are no KRs built to the
design weight. When you add more weight, most of it is aft of the CG,
therefore the reason you must do something to offset it.

Most KR-2 builders acknowledge that the VW engine installation needs to have
the engine moved forward 2-inches from the plans callout. Does not matter
either conventional gear or tri-gear. The KR-2S supplement moves the

If you pull the hinge pin, reverse the leaf and re-install the pin, it lines up
with the underside of the speed brake panel and doesn't require a shim on the
other hinge leaf. I used 0.125 6061T6 aluminum for speed brake, 9x30", powered
by a 6" linear actuator. Will deploy to appox. 80 d
