Can someone tell me the distance between the bottom of the firewall and the
center line of a corvair engine? I might have a 56x60 prop. I need to know
how long the nose and main gear needs to be so I don't make rumble strips down
the runway.

Hi Paul, as a Past President of EAA32 in St. Charles MO, you get out of an EAA
Chapter what YOU put into it.? Things aren't fun;? change it!!? Volunteer to
put on a program..? Bring in parts from your project for "show and tell"..?
Most members "want to be asked" to do something rather than stan
I think pulling staples is pretty boring job . I remember when I was in the
Air Force as a sheet metal mechanic. A B-52G pilot accidentally put the flaps
down when he was going much to fast. Me and three other airman had to reskin
the back sides of all the flaps. Now that was boring.

This is a theme that I have heard often and seen myself in my home chapter.
?Almost always the cause is a lack of effective leadership, which is a chronic
problem in most EAA Chapters. ?
As of the new year, I am no longer an EAA Chapter president. ?About 6 1/2 years
ago, our chapter had boiled

I went to the Nov. Meeting and met Paul (president). They was a good meeting.
I brought my center sparse to see if someone could look at them before I closed
it out. Someone asked why it wasn't solid. That was a good question. I don't
know. Maybe it would be too heavy. But, if Ken designed
Paul,
Don't worry, I am the only KR driver in my chapter but the RV guys are fine. I
kid them about how little my plane cost and how little fuel I use compared the
them, it's all good fun.

I agree, been there, done that as a chapter president. We were fortunate
to have a large chapter with many members who either could present
something interesting or knew someone outside the chapter who would
speak/demo etc.
If your chapter isn't filling your needs, chances are there are others
I used to belong to chapter 64 but didn't get anything out of it. All they
seemed to do is promote young eagles, and other EAA programs. There's no
time spent talking about building anything, no demos, no presentations from
other builders, no KR builders and no one who had ever seen one, which is
I don't think there's any KR experts in my chapter. But there's a lot of RVer.
People can be so lost and confused and not know what there missing. : )

Brian,
I would suggest doing this with WAC charts. ?Exactly 50% of the size of
Sectionals, so only takes half as many and half the space, but still has all
the small airports. ?The WAC Charts are a bit decluttered, so don't have all
the details of a Sectional, but do have the details you want.
Just saw the comments re: the big sectional.? I would like something similar
but I don't think that a "big" sectional will work.? To be able to show all of
the nation's airports, it would have to be a pretty big map and the airports
would have to be very small.? I would prefer a map that fits on
I would like to do a big wall sectional chart in my house or hanger with
pins in all the airports I have visited. Pasting together sectionals is
a little too big and the VFR planning chart does not have all of the
smaller airports on it and it is too small. Does anyone know of a big
chart of the
Did it again.
What I said is that I have used rubbing alcohol to thin epoxy to use it
as varnish before. It works great. When I built up my last set of
spars I thinned the left over T-88 this way and painted it on and the
results were very good. I buy my alcohol in a gallon can from Home
Depot.
This one is 59"x36".
