Hi Larry.
Perhaps the simple way I have found to reduce image file sizes is to use
the inbuilt picture editor in all Windows products called Paint.
It ain't elegant but it is quick and does the job and saves time installing
any other type of software.
You open Paint under the Accessories menu or

Trust me, or look at my web site, or trust Mark Langford. There is nothing
easier to use than IrfanView. Every picture and thumbnail and web page on
that site was created using IrfanView. It is no problem to download it and
it works. You can also do more with it than cutting the size of picture
