I have just e-mailed the final financial report for the 2012
Gathering to Bob Lee for posting to the www.krgathering.org
site. Give Bob a couple days to get it uploaded. Final number is
$5219.12, up very slightly over last year. That is a very sufficient
amount if we can hold it there from
Understood. I just didn't know if that was acceptable in the aircraft
world. I saw an engineer do this on a boat once. Coolest thing I ever saw.
If the hole is cross grain, then the plug must be the same direction and
orientation.

Do NOT just use dowels for this. In order to get the best bond, you must cut
your own plugs with the grain oriented correctly. Facegrain must mate to
facegrain, sidegrain to sidegrain, and endrain to endgrain, wiht the woods
being a very closematch. Use Carpenters glue, tight fit. Do not use epo
Maybe a bit more information would be in order here, a 1/4" hole (2/8") out

you usually find at lumber yards but google Woodworkers Warehouse or other
suppliers to find a wood of choice. Although For holes that small in
There's no problem with it. Like with metal, just assume that the plug
doesn't restore any strength.

Is it acceptable to fill holes in wood structures by driving wooden dowels
of equal wood strength into the holes "greased" with T-88 epoxy? Any
problems with this? I'm talking about drill holes, 1/4" or smaller.
