Hi Dave,
I've seen plastic of about 2 - 3 mm being cut VERY accurately with a water
cutter.
Don't know, but some laser could also do the trick.

A lot of KRs flew with the smaller VW engines, and did so very well.
Then came along starters, batteries, bigger tires, a nose gear, more
instruments and extra layers of cloth.
Its not the same now. Lynn N37LH

Sorry Dan,
The original discussion was about the header tank, and weather it was
safe. I changed the subject line in my reply because I was replying to an
email that didn't mention the header tank. My bad.

Bennett started out with a 1600cc on his original KR-1. He described the
performance as "marginal". He eventually upgraded to an 1835cc, I believe,
with about a 9.1:1 compression ratio (requiring 100LL) which gave h

Rich,
You're absolutely correct. I realize that I hadn't considered some
important facts concerning my statement.

hey Guys,Just a fun little item that i looked at in my ATC last night. It has a
odometer/tripometer function that i had never looked at before. Apparantly it
has been recording from the time I installed it almost 3 years ago. It is
showing just under 20,000 miles traveled in just over 300 hours.
"However, the percentage of deaths per mile driven happening because of
vehicle accidents has remained fairly constant over the years."
Todd, the automobile safety guy who gave you this information was way
off base. Deaths per mile driven have decreased greatly over the years
and the trend cont
Yes, I have.
Perhaps I'm oversimplifying it a bit because I have considerable experience
in engine building. Still, with some experienced guidance, it's well within
the capabilities of anyone who can build an airplane.

Lee,
Have you ever done that? Huge work and you better know what you are doing.
The crank alone is very expensive as is all the machine work, pistons, and
cylinders. I certainly would not under estimate it.
