On my kr there is a pull-push handle not unlike a throttle control that
moves the landing light up and down, it is also set up with a high and low
beam. Just a thought, its lighter than a motor would be and is completely
adjustable.

With a little engineering you could use a motor from a car mirror and make it
adjustable for taxi and landing.

It is a personal choice and depends on how much snow, slush, and mud your
local area gets.
Some guys will remove their wheel pants each winter and others will
reframe from flying when their is snow or slush on the runways and taxiways.

Des Moines,
Is it customary to leave wheel pants on in the winter months on a KR? I really
don't know, so I'm asking. Seems that at my airport wheel pants are removed on
all aircraft in the winter. And I would imagine that the lights would go
through abuse they were not designed for. Seems that every time I

Years ago I did this with pants on my champ that I operated mostly off dirt
and gravel. It made it until the first light rain in CO and the mud picked
up a rock and lodged it into the liner and locked the wheel up. I ate up a
little sage brush and abandoned the pretty and stuck with the mud throwin

All,
I have not been following super close so apologize if already mentioned.
The new LED landing lights are expensive but SUPER small and rugged. I have a
friend that installed one that is a small rectangle shape and puts out a gob of
light (I know that is pretty imprecise). I would go that

My '46 Bellanca had a retracting light. The "down" angle could be set by how
far the light came down. The extraction and retraction was controlled by

The most abused components on airplanes are tires and wheel pants. Even if you

they are in the prop wash which basically means sand blasted. Already mentioned
