Lately, I have really been "down in the dumps". You would think that I
would be "flying high" having resolved my engine issues and finally being
able to fly when I want to. I have been flying 2 to 3 times a week for the
last several weeks, including this morning. However, none of this really

I used Hysol that you can buy at Wicks or Aircraft Spruce to attach some
Diehl wing skins. We used that stuff over at Lancair for assembly of wings
and fuselages. It's strong and has a long pot life.

He has a video of the process too. My plane (Ken Cottle's KR-1½) is used

you say? It is for me. We moved down here 11 years ago, and I didn't

Vinylester is the resin that was used to make Diehl wing skins. That would be
the choice to make. Vinylester exotherms more quickly than most epoxies so be
prepared to work quickly and it would be best to have as many helpers as you
can round up. Be sure and follow the Diehl plans carefully, be
When using the Diehl skins, you should use VE because that is what they are
made with. I don't think that T-88 should be used because you need to use a
resin and flox mixture for attaching the skins to the spar. You don't want
to try to do that with T-88. Wear a respirator, gloves and safety gla
What planes flying with T-88 ? I've been advised to use Vinylester for
attaching Diehl Wingskins. However can some people be alergic to Vinylester ?
Is Vinylester more difficult to work ?
PM in AUS told me, years ago, that the preference is Vinylester.

According to my plans the four front (forward side of spar) (rear spar wafs)
have a bend at .62 from the center of the last hole on the side of the waf
closest to the end of the spar, then .38 from that bend point to the center of
the wing bolt up hole.
The rear side of the spars fittings are
Yes I did do that, I didn't mention it in my last post though. I used this
material on the sides and belly to save weight. I think using light weight
deck cloth and epoxy is also a good method to seal the wood, it just
involves sanding and filling. If using Dacron fabric there is no sanding or

Hows the driving forecast? Will visibility be good? Are the roads smooth?

I'm spending the morning putting together things needed to transport
to the Gathering so my plans were handy. Page 23 and 24 of the plans
give the dimensions for the W.A.F.'s. A look at the plans clearly
shows the difference in the fittings.

Of course .5 seconds after I sent that, I realize why half of them have to

On second thought, I'm not even sure you need longer ones, they just move
closer to the end of the spar, right? I think you just need bent ones. That
should be in your plans though. I have that info at home but not on me, as
usual, and it was a loong time ago that I built mine. So somebo

Ok Guy's, It looks like I've been caught with my pants down. I originally
bought an old KR2 project to rob some parts off of and I'm pretty sure I've
overlooked something. The Wing Attach Fittings are all the same length (shorts

I currently have two handheld transceivers.
The first is a Bendix King KX-99 which I bought from a former KR builder
