A couple examples of non high wing STOL, Grumman OV-1 Mohawk is mid wing and
Socata Rallye is low wing but generally speaking most are highwing.

Looking at the Zenith designs with the up sloping tail..You can rotate
the nose pretty darn high using Aerodynamic braking, wing acting like a big

Have finnished installation of the retract mechanism and handle/ acuator. The
copper tube will be replaced w a aluminum tube once I get it ordered. works
very well. the handle twists to unlatch the pins. I may end up shortening
the outer part of the handle so it isnt as high.

I think we should all remember this next time there is any kind of election and
get out and vote or we may lose our rights to fly and do many of the things we
take for granted everyday. Thank God for low taxes in Tennessee and welcome to
the south Volkswagen!

I didn't go through anything like that in Pa, I gave them a low $ #, told
them most of it came from here and there i.e.: junk yard etc, Pd a few
hundred in taxes and that was the end of it.

Hello Josh,
I'm in california and our tax rate is 1%, my KR is valued at 12,000 by the
assessor and will go up when I change the electronics and right now I pay
120.00 in tax to the county per year. you county is asking you to pay almost 17
% in taxes that sounds way to high.

What are the taxes like in Nebraska or Missouri ? Maybe if they don't
see it your way, you find a friend in Beatrice of KS, MO that will allow
you to "move" your address there ? Fly up to Beatrice a few times a
month to collect your mail. Maybe even your income taxes would benefit
from this.

Value? Wait until you try to sell a KR. There are very few people who want
one. The only rationalization to building one is the pure pleasure of
construction. (...and reading about others who are involved in the same

The state of Michigan tried that game with me but said $20K in 1992. I
asked where they got that number, and the appraiser said he pulled it
out of his butt. So I countered that this plane can never be sold as it

I have a few collected at home for the same reason. My favorite is Ross

Boy a personal property tax rate of 17% seems extreme.

The appraiser has it valued at $15000 and wants me to pay $2500 a year in
taxes!

There are several for sale on Barnstormers in the $7k to $8k range.
You could try printing off those ads as examples of "fair market value".

Hi guys,
Quick question for everyone, hope I am not being intrusive! I am dealing
with property taxes on my KR right now, and I think what they want to
charge me is way too high. I am in Kansas. The appraiser has it valued
at $15000 and wants me to pay $2500 a year in taxes! I think this is
crazy.
