Hello all. This weekend, I committed myself to using KDE 4.1 that comes with
Kubuntu and along with it, Kopete. I am one of those users that finds
conversation logs very important. I have Gaim logs going back to 2005. I was
looking for a way to convert them over but searching on the web lead the no
I was wondering if there is anyway to customize the Buddy list via a skin of
some sort. I have customized the Chat window to my liking by altering an
existing skin but I could not find any options for the Buddy list. I tried
searching the web, looking on kopete.kde.org under the Handbook and FAQ se
Is it just me or is anybody else seeing the message text in very light font no
matter which skin they use and what they do to the CSS.
Thanks,

I have submitted a Kopete bug to make auto spell check more efficient by only
checking a word AFTER it has been typed (waiting for a space or punctuation,
similar to Firefox). I notice that while I am typing the word is checked with
each keypress. For instance, if you want to type the word "somethi
I am glad I saw this on the list.
I think I may have something for this one. "Importer of logs from pidgin".
The problem is that it is written in PHP because that is all that I know. I
converted my Gaim logs from Yahoo, AOL, MSN to the Kopete format. It uses a bit
of regexp to break apart the Gai
There are a couple of bugs that I posted on bugs.kde.org a few months ago and
was wondering if there was a better place to submit them. The reason I ask is
that there has been no response at all, they are still unconfirmed. I put them
under Wishlist because they do not crash Kopete or cause loss of

Yes, so annoying, it was one of the reasons it was forked and the Carrier
project started.

Nice. Do you think something similar would be possible for Tabs as well.
Currently we have "Icon + Screenname + (Status)". Perhaps a simple string
configuration would help here. "%i %n (%s)" to define what is currently there
and allow the user to edit it.
I am sorry to bother you with this if you
I just tried it with Kopete on Kubuntu Intrepid and it works. I was able to
setup and connect to my gmail account.

Why is it that sometimes I do NOT see the "Default Identity" and "list of
accounts" on the bottom of the buddy list, but usually it is there? I actually
like the list cleaner without those things so if anyone can tell me how to
disable them for good, that would be awesome.

what the list looked like. I am still not sure how to reproduce this, but it
does happen. By the way, would it be possible to have configure options to make
it look like this all the time?

Perhaps I am misunderstanding your question but there are different themes which
show you this information in different formats.

I am running KDE 4.2.90 under Jaunty which I believe is KDE 4.3 Beta 2. There
are a couple of changes that I had some questions on.
1. The names in the contact list are all bold. I went in the configuration and
specified a font in "Regular" but it is still bold. Do I need to change this in

Awesome. I did not think about right clicking on the Display name thing.

Facebook announced XMPP support for Facebook chat. I would assume that it would
be trivial to setup Kopete with this.
I went to http://www.facebook.com/sitetour/chat.php and clicked on "Other" to
find out how to configure it but cannot get the status to go Online.

I am able to connect Kopete to Facebook that via the Jabber plugin. The problem
is that the contacts do not show up in any group. I created a new group called
"Facebook" and drag contacts there but the next time I restart Kopete, they are
in the root level and not the group.
I also do not see that
I connect to 2 Jabber networks with Kopete. GTalk and Facebook.
In GTalk I am able to go to "Edit User Info" and fetch and edit the vCard (set
Nickname), but I have to do that everytime I restart Kopete. Apparently it does
not save to the server just locally.
In Facebook when I go to "Edit User I

I found it by deciding to look. I did not read your mail.
I did a Google search but did not find any posts regarding this issue.

FYI Digikam also has something similar. Not sure if it is something that is
already shared or duplicated.
