You can change the card number and it doesn't affect anything. When I set up
Koha for our library five years ago, I uploaded a list of all the employees,
using their employee ID number as their card number. About a week or two later
the hospital introduced a system-wide ID scheme and everybody g
Koha internally tracks patrons using the borrowernumber. Card number can be
changed at any point of time.
