I have kernel 4.4.16-040416-generic running and the problem is still
there. It appears that encryptfs is partially broken and this is a
known bug. I can change into directories and open files. The only
problem now is that when I use a command like ls, I get responses such
as:
ls: cannot open d
kernel 4.4.0-43-generic is working fine. Installed it today. Encryptfs
seems to be back to being fully operational.
So, I haven't tried 4.8.1 but it appears the bug was fixed before then.

lts-raring kernel (3.8.0-32-generic) and newer (e.g. lts-saucy

I can't reproduce this on vivid w.r.t the hang.
For the "release all the devs" used in bcache setup; it's certainly
awkward. Fundamentally, there's no path in sysfs that contains both the
cache devs and the backing devs. And AFAIK, there is no way to know
that the bcacheX devices is being cached

A few days after reporting, I noticed that VLC media player was
terminating its process whenever I would seek ahead in a video. I found
a workaround by disabling hardware video acceleration (VA API). I had
been watching a lot of videos in Chrome when the system freezes in this
bug were happening.
I have been using the [Intel iwlwifi] network more intensely than I have
in a couple weeks today, so that's probably the cause.

We have found that when we boot up the system, Dmesg would show BAR13 failed to

I can confirm Redstorm's experience. I successfully built the module on
kernel 3.8.0.29 (Linux Mint 15 KDE x64).
The module loaded right away with modprobe and appears to work on an n
network, but it's connecting in b/g mode and the speed has not been
