The Jammy HWE kernel will be rolling to the 6.8 kernel from Noble in a
couple days / or a week or so. The 6.5 mantic kernel is closed to any
new commits now, so best to just move to the 6.8 kernel now where this
is already fixed.

I think KDE needs to handle it better. Mutter (used by gnome-shell) has
mechanism to filter out repeated media key events:

I've commented here 6 years ago, having similar issues with swap
trashing.
I can attest that despite web browsers managing to eat more memory than
ram available, my system hasn't gone unresponsive recently.

Was also my impression that a backport is probably best.
And the backport applies cleanly on jammy master-next (so yes, that is what we
have to use for the next and upcoming kernel of an Ubuntu release).
