Okay, looks like this ethernet interface issue is NOT related to ACPI.
I managed to get the ethernet interface working. I disabled network
manager, put a basic configuration for eth0 in /etc/network/interfaces
and ran "ifup eth0". No problems anymore. Playing around a bit, this
looks like network
Some good news: I am running Ubuntu 15.10 for a week now and it did not
happen again.

Can this be backported to trusty (I don't have wily installation on this

Anyway I use mainline 4.3 kernel which include this fix, and I can confirm

no idea what makes the ethernet interface work only sometimes. I
disabled network manager, dnsmasq and avahi now, tracked for other
daemons, browsed through log files, but I still have no clue about this
fault.
