Found this related kernel patch for igb and igc:

The post states that for igb kernel module a fix is included in 5.15.12.
I tested with kernel 5.15.12 (Ubuntu 5.15.0-18.18-generic 5.15.12) and
the bug remains in my case using igc kernel module.
The problem doesn't appear to be universal. I've just installed jammy
2022-02-28 on a laptop, plugged in a monitor and keyboard and closed the
lid. But for me everything works correctly - the laptop screen is no
longer part of the desktop.
