I have run the lsusb command. Since I am now at work, this comes from
another computer, a Dell Latitude E6520. But I also have the problem on
a Dell Inspiron in addition to the HP first mentioned, so this seems to
be a general Ubuntu 14.04-problem and not a computer-specific problem.

The latest upstream kernel (http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v3.15-rc5-utopic/) appears to have fixed the bug. My
testing was not extensive, but so far I have not been able to reproduce
the issue. I will update again if I am able to reproduce the bug with
the upstream kernel.

Hello,
my external USB Sound Interface is not supported from the generic kernel.
I know the Chip is very similar to the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 which works
very fine. Defining the USB Device in the quirks-table a
$ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

I have updated the bios. but I'm still getting the same ACPI errors on
dmesg output.
I noticed this error on dmesg output on both ubuntu and archlinux many times:
usb 1-3: device not accepting address 4, erro
I installed the ubuntu kernel 3.5.0-49-generic from repositories.
Now dmesg | grep dvb gives:

I've been losing connection with 3.13.0-24-generic with high download
rates. After a few "fn"+"Wireless Button" actions and reconnectings it
seems to be stable. strange

7 minutes after reboot, efter I've installed the backports, I get the first
disconnect and I have to deactivate Wifi and enable it again using the
nm-applet. modinfo iwlwifi still doesn't even show 7260 ucode *8* file. Only
*7*.
uname -r: 3.13.0-24
(I somehow have to load iwlwifi using modprobe
Christopher, I just bought this laptop and haven't had any other Ubuntu
versions installed prior to this. Will give jhouse's backports a try.
