lcdproc for imon_lcd stopped working

Michael Ferenczi, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't
been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live
This bug has been fixed meanwhile and I completely forgot reporting
about it. I now can’t tell you which kernel version fixed the issue.

Every time I boot past the BIOS screen, screen turns purple (Ubuntu
color), screen turns black and backlight off (really black), and GDM
drumroll can be heard.
WORKAROUND: Press "increase backlight" key brings back the backlight.
