Dunno if it's still due to video, but after I added APOD it crashed plasma -
fortunately 5.18.6 seems a bit more robust and came back up by itself.
So, I'd say it's still 'fragile'.

I mostly use the markdown viewer as a Kate file preview backend because it
provides a KPart file menu with PDF export, whereas the [Markdown Viewer

my workaround: assign CTRL+ALT+P to open/close preview in Kate shortcuts
(CTRL+SHIFT+P conflicts with 'start presentation')
