Sorry for the slow response. I installed GNOME on the Live CD version of Mint,
with the same behavior as the outcome. And checked that it did the same in

I have restarted before this screenshot. Prior to this Okular was not showing
in dark mode, and the dialogue box width was correct. What the relevance of
that information is I don't know.
