I have found a workaround, if I enable
Widget Style -> Breeze -> Configure -> Center tabbar tabs
then I get old behavior, just inverted. The tabs stick to the right side of the
screen instead of a left side.

Maybe if you wait for the image to change? Does the cpu spike when the image
