I think I made an observation: under System Settings -> Compositor, setting the
latency to "force smoothest animations", seems to almost fix the problem for
me. Maybe someone could try this...

I can confirm that using the Show FPS effect makes the whole situation a lot
better.
Could it be that there is some kind of CPU/GPU frequency scaling error?

Could this be backported to Plasma 5.18.6 ?
It is a very important fix for kde wayland usage which could then be included
as an update to Kubuntu 20.04.

I downgraded to mesa 12.0.3 and Xorg 1.19.0 with no change in results.
I forgot to mention that HP Elitebook 840 G1 also has a discrete GPU, AMD
Radeon HD 8750M, but I'm not using it.

Actually it I installed a bunch of updates, that's right. I think there was
also a new (minor) kernel version and also minor Mesa update. Does dnf have a
log of all recently updated packages?

Still no luck with 16.04.3 in Fedora 24 now. I think the whole connection to
the Google api is broken, as there are multiple bug reports concerning Google
calendar etc.. Please fix this.
