It is a little bit difficult to draw a closed linestring (like A-B-C-D-A) or
linestring that makes a loop like in a lasso (A-B-C-D-B) because it is not
possible to snap with the new vertices before the feature is finished. There
are two simple workarounds. User can digitize first a point
Hi Jukka, regarding closed linestring ABCDA (not linering), as you pointed,
there is the conversion tool by Ede (convert geometry to linering,
multipoints, etc) on right click context menu, (draw a polygon and that
convert to a linestring)

i've commited a small enhancment for the measurement tool. Now it's
possible to show the distance between the vertices relative too. This
was a featurerequest from an OJ user.
It would be nice, if the translators can translate the new key:
org.openjump.core.ui.plugin.tools.AdvancedMeasureOp
