Hi,
I'm wondering. If I've got a reader (JUMPReader) and I'm using it in a
DataSource, I often run into the problem of communicating data that was read
from the file to the application. Example:
I'm parsing a MapInfo file and would like to store the parsed style information
somewhere. From the re
Wow! Great work, Stefan. I haven't had a chance to look at it in
detail, but will forward any ideas I have.

One comment - on my monitor the grey body text is a bit hard to read,
due to low contrast. Would it be possible to use black for the bulk
text, and some other colour for highlighting? (Blue maybe - in homage
to the original Vivid colours...)

Hei Peppe,

I found the templates here:

Great work Stefan,
It looks nice.
I like the general design of the page which offers a clear structure
Do you see this html structure as a simple entry point to access wiki
documentation or do you think wiki should migrate to html ?
I can see pros and cons for both tools, but I'd like to know wh
Yes, much better.
I guess I meant the bolded text. It looks fine now, as does the orange
highlighting.

thank you all for your responses
I changed the text color to (nearly) black.
Is it better now?

you mean from Orange to something else? I.e. which highlightning colour
do you mean?

Stefan,
The site looks very nice. I also use templates from the same site for
some of my own web pages.
This is definitely an upgrade from my days of amatuer web design!

Andreas,
This is a good question, as I know I've gotten to some places in the
code where I didn't have access to a PlugInContext, WorkbenchContext,
or Blackboard.
Let me look at the API today at lunch and I will respond with any comments.

I want to ask a question about a "strategic" move for OpenJUMP. I
thought it best to ask here, before I mention the subject on the
java-collaboration mailing list that was just set up at the OSGeo.
Let me give you some background info, and then I will aske my question.

Andreas,
I did a little reading in the old JUMP Developer Guide and the
OpenJUMP Javadoc. I was wondering if you could indicate to me which
method is used to obtain the FeatureCollection from the DataSource. Is
it the installCoordinateSystem method? I see that it returns a
FeatureCollection, but i
Excellent question, SS. I'm not surprised to see this come up. Greater
integration with GeoTools has often been suggested as the ultimate goal
for future JUMP design, but I've always been concerned that GeoTools
imposes an undesirable level of complexity. It would be nice to find a
good path
Thanks for responding Martin.

I am familar with this. If I remember it correctly there was a

Landon,
Is there a need to implement your own subclass of SimpleFeature or would
using the DefaultFeature implementation work. I'm guessing there is a
need as you want something which is both a JUMP Feature and a GeoTools
feature.

I have written adapaters a couple of times; it is a good way to approach
the problem. Allowing client code (ie OpenJump) to provide a
FeatureFactory is one of the ways you can ask GeoTools to make use of
your adapters.

what about adopting "compatible" features like the geometries and

I'd vote for using (and profit) much+ more (from) geotools code before
there's really a need to adopt their styles ..

It looks like I've opened a can of worms. I was hoping to get input
and collect my thoughts before involving Jody, although Martin didn't
know this. I'm afraid the thoughts in my previous e-mail might appear
unfriendly from a GeoTools perspective.

Hei Michael and Uwe (who asked the same question)
My personal oppinion (and expericene) is, that we can not live without
the wiki due to its ease of use and the low entry barrier for editing.
So my current preference is to have the "nice" looking webpage as entry
