Our users would be satisfied with option 3. As long as they can save a
project and open it again the next session, a little initial setup
complexity is a small thing.

What direction(s) does the community want me to go toward with regards to
integrating the H2 database into OpenJUMP?

coordinates, it's just that most of the spatial operations only use XY. But if

What type of GPX support does Andreas have for deeJUMP? The code I
have in Geotools (and the plug-in I made for OpenJUMP) only reads GPX
files, and I would be interested in adding write support.
