Hello All,
I have installed all the dependencies for Cyrus IMAPD but still
getting an error while trying to make it.
I am using this command for config and then make
./configure --with-bdb-libdir=/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.3/lib

--with-sasl=/usr/l
Hello All,
I have finally managed to install Cyrus IMAP. But I am unable to
login to the server to create new accounts.
I am using this command
/usr/local/bin/imtest -m login -a USER localhost
but I get a authentication failure
and my imapd.conf has this configuration
configdirectory: /var/
when I start Cyrus on my machine after a complete install with all
dependencies I get this error
[EMAIL PROTECTED] config]# /etc/rc.d/init.d/cyrus start
saslauthd[31190] :set_auth_mech : unknown authentication mechanism: pam
and on checking saslauthd I see that pam is not available

Hello All,
I have been able to setup cyrus on our Redhat Linux 3 ES server. And
all services seem to be running, but I am not able to login to the
IMAP server, and hence manage mail boxes. I cannot find any logs
indicating any problems either.
I have used the documentation by Luc de Louw listed h

Hello All,
I have been trying for more then a week to get cyrus running, but

Hello Marco,
Thanks a lot for sending a detailed email. The main reason that I am
not using an RPM is because I have Red Hat Linux 3 ES which
unfortunately does not comes with Cyrus RPMS. That answers the first
question of why I am doing this. Second I need to use postfix to
integrate with cyrus i
Lars thank you for your response, I did use those RPMS and they
install okay, but get the same login issue, and errors in the log, in
addition the RPM does not use PAM as the authentication method, so
cannot use it since I need to integrate Cyrus IMAP with Postfix.

Hello Marco I am going to adopt and try your suggestion. Going to
built everything again with a separate version of Berkeley DB at a
location like
/usr/local/db4.2
and compile and link with the libraries in that specific folder. I am

The server does not crash now, logs show no errors that can crash the

Well it was an issue with multiple installs of sasl on the system . By
default there was an installation of SASL through the RPM, and then I
installed the latest version on the server. After creating the correct
symbolic links which were suggested to me on another list, the issue
was sorted out.

Hello All,
I am new to Cyrus IMAP, I have used cyradm utility to create a
mailbox using createmailbox command, on doing lm I see the mailbox
that I created.
But now when I send an email to the specific account I get this error
in the logs

As I said it is working fine, since the cyrus user can send and
receive mails perfectly fine. And yes this is Cyrus and Postfix issue.
Thanks for your response. I created the user on Os and it is all
working fine now.
Imran.

I was able to sort out the issue with the Case sensitivity, but the
