Brendan, note the listen= argument in cyrus.conf, this is the name of
the socket that lmtpd will use.
In cyrus.conf: /var/tmp/imap/configdir/socket/imap
In error msg: /var/tmp/imap/configdir/socket/lmtp
Make them match and you should be good to go.

Ive tried to compile 4 different versions of Cyrus on my machine today and i
cant get three to get past ./configure.

they all crap out because they cant find the Kerberos libraries.

No, it will not work. A shared file system with unix lock semantics is
not enough, Berkeley DB will not work in this environment because it
uses shared memory. The system is single host bound.

that the native compiler uptil about 5.0.2.x has some interesting issues.
But then so did gcc when I last tried it on AIX.

Certainly works for me (in fact I'm using OE 6 to send this, but I also use
kmail and squirrelmail as well 8). Only strange quirk I found was that I
had to create all the parent folders in a tree, eg I couldn't just have a
folder x.y.z I had to actually have x and x.y as well.

you've configured it the way you want it, now you can use cyradm
to connect and create mailboxes. Check the documentation, this part is

I think I went down that road once also. In my experience, the cyrus
configure/build process likes to ignore things from time to time. Try
setting the LD_LIBRARY_PATH or putting it in ld.so.conf but that's just

r. I tried to set the sharedprefix and userprefix
option but it did not help. Thunderbird configuration allows these
settings to be taken over from server. But also disables and filling the
2.1.15 values does not solve the problem.
Is this a bug of I am missing somehting here?

What's the cleanest way around this problem? Obviously, the solution
I'd like is for invalid recipients to get blocked at the "RCPT TO"

/srv/cyrus/imap/mailboxes.db (0 records, 144 bytes) in 0 second
The folder /srv/cyrus/imap exists, but is seems imaps fails to create
the db folder for whatever reason. After creating it manually imaps
could start properly.
Is this a bug related to the use of DB 4.5?

I have run through a test of this process once without luck retaining
the information. Is there a way to do this moving to x86_64 and then
likewise moving back to x86?
