Try file -s /dev/fd0 and see what it says. If that hangs your system
then there probably is a hardware problem. Cant imagine any thing new

Here is the output from various commands.
The /etc/fstab file. The mount process just hangs.
Could someone throw some light on this, I am trying
to mount a FAT floppy.
Mine is a RedHat 7.2 system, but I am using ext3 file
system for /. I had converted to ext3fs from ext2fs
more than s
e problem if I give this command.

Could it be that your floppy and CDROM drive are
failing, being old, and need repairs? Are they being
recognised at the time of boot? Pl check.
