Prashant,     I have a feeling that your harddrive does not support DMA (Direct Memory Access) which to be quite frank is very odd.  Most harddrives from my understanding do support DMA.  As far as your concerns about not having proper drivers for your harddrive are highly unlikely.  Kernel 2.
