Of course you have meant z/OS 1.13, not 1.3

Actually zos 1.4 will work on a z13 as a uni-processor. More than one
processor on an image results in some spectacular 0c4s.

PS.. reporting to IBM and other ISVs doesn't report the proper model and
your IOCP becomes something that can only be loaded via HMC.

As I can't attach nice charts, will try and type the info for supported z/OS
levels on different systems (these include systems and z/OS levels withdrawn
from marketing). Assumption: appropriate z/OS maintenance has been applied etc:
z/OS 1.3 - z9/z10/z196/z114/z12/z13(s)/z14. For z14, see note

It is possible, despite what you mean exactly.
It is possible to set up some LPAR on EC12 and start here any z/OS (or other
OS) currently working on z14. It is possible to start vanilla new OS
hardware.

Caution: possible does not mean legal. In theory starting licensed

From scratch? The second COBOL program I ever wrote started with the first one
as a model/skeleton. We seldom create from scratch if we can help it. I'd say
what you're suggesting is very doable with one proviso: you need physical
connection from the z12 to peripherals--at least DASD--and to the
