As I am trying to setup new account hierarchy, there is only one category
showing in the category list (GST Indian Business). How do I get the
category list to add account hierarchy for client services (marketing)
business.

Hi,
The hierarchy data is all donated; if it doesn't exist, that means nobody
has built one and donated it.
You are welcome to do so.
You can build a hierarchy by hand by creating accounts, one by one, and
naming them and placing them in the hierarchy. Unfortunately, for new
locales, especially
Derak, Thanks.
I have been using GNUCash for my personal finance for over 10 years. I will
refine it and then submit. Please advise how to submit (donate) it.
I am building another one for small business in services segment. Once this
is matured , will submit it as well.

Good morning:
I am a new gnucash user and I find it quite useful.
When I enter a transaction I often put data in the "notes" field.
However, when that transaction is imported via a Quicken file it
overwrites the note entry I made. Can I modify this behavior?
Thanks

I would like help with the above subject. This is an action in the
transaction menu which seems to have no description of what it does or how
to use it. I tried to use it and it produced a letter in the top bar of
the transaction display. Now when I right-click on the transaction there
is an act
Welcome to the GnuCash user list.
You can limit what information GnuCash overwrites by choosing the Update
option while in the matching phase of a OFX or QIF import. For each
transaction note what GnuCash will overwrite, which may be the notes that
you want to keep, the amount or the date. If it
David,
Don't forget there's also a Gnucash : General : Linked Files preference
that allows you to set the "Path head for Linked Files Relative Paths"
which I believe is used to point to the folder you want to keep your
associated files in.

David H,
I cannot find any help for that setting either. Is that mandatory to make
the individual associations work? Do all associated files need to be in
the same place? What if the GnuCash data file is on a USB key? Did I
mention encryption?

Hi,
FYI I previously made a feature request for the path to persist with the
book instead of the program as I ran into the same issue since I have
multiple books as well
