I’m using multiple currency in latest GnuCash with Trading Account enabled.
After reading Peter Selinger’s articles, Tutorial on multiple currency
accounting and Multiple currency accounting in GnuCash, I learned much more
about Trading Account for multiple currency support.

I agree, that is optimum for searching, and I would say the better
method for that use case.
I use the faux time stamps to force my cash account, which has lots of
activity, to sort properly so there is never a negative balance. (which
is impossible with cash) I also don't always get to enter

I go to open GnuCash and it shows as open in my task bar but when clicked will
not expand to allow me to actually work with it. So I see the program open in

Are you on a laptop sometimes attached to an external display? Maybe the
windows are opening outside of your screen. I get this often, even with
Microsoft applications.

I am assuming you are on Windows 10 (based upon your "sent from mail"
message. If not, ignore my message and let us know what OS you are using.
If you are Windows 10 - this does not sound like a Gnucash issue - this
sounds like a windows issue in that your program is losing focus or is never

With Windows 10 I have also had issues where the Window is open and has
focus but, for some reason, its size is reduced to almost 0, a small line
which I have to locate and resize, or select Maximize from the icon in the
task bar.

It is more likely that the OP has or had a second monitor upon which gnucash is
placing its window, as the other response mentioned. This has happened to
others in the past.
