Thanks - you finally identified the cause of my issue.
I'll try to set up my accounts differently, so that I will have both the
"USD Cash" and the "VT" account under a placeholder account which is
denominated in USD.

Your problem is that VT’s parent is IBKR and that’s denominated in CHF. GnuCash
sets the currency for non-currency accounts using the first parent account
that’s denominated in a currency. That has a couple of consequences, the most

Yes, the first image is from my "VT" account, which is actually under
"Assets:Investments:IBKR:VT".
The account type is "Mutual Fund" - so this is maybe the problem? I tried
changing it to "Stock" type, but nothing changed with regards to the "USD
Cash" account
Yes, that doesn't look right. It's not clear - is image 1 from the VT
account? It doesn't look right - stock account should have Shares, Price,
Buy, and Sell Columns ("Buy" and "Sell" will be "Debit" and "Credit" if you
