A couple of additions to Adrien's information:
1) Searching using "site:lists.gnucash.org" will also include all the
documentation and other gnucash resources. This may be useful, of course! But
if you want *just* the list archives, use "site:lists.gnucash.org/pipermail"
2) Unfortunately, Alt-T

about ALT-TAB. Hopefully I’ll remember it if needed again.
The search function may be broken but we still have the ability to look at
posts in several ways by scrolling so that’s something at least. In my initial

If the window is not in focus, ALT+TAB can cycle through windows for you.
ALT+SPACE (or SHIFT+right-click) will bring up the 'window' menu of the
window in focus which has a 'Move' option. Then use your mouse or arrow
keys to reposition the window.
You can also right-click the taskbar to Casc
The 'search' feature on the list archive is broken, so your options are:
View the Archive and use your browser's Find feature for various terms.
(but that will only work for the particular page of the Archive you are
viewing)

I could not find in your messages what release of GnuCash that you are
using or what kind of computer you are running it on. I assume that it is
a fairly recent release of GnuCash, but if it happens to be release 4.10,
for example, IIRC that release has a bug that could be your problem.

This message means that the last time you exited, the data file was not closed
properly which would have happened when the program or your computer crashed.
If you select the Open Anyway option and this will clear the lock file and allow
the data file to be opened.
