I just checked and discovered that I did 23 updates going from 4.8 to Gnucash
Arm-5.10-1. However, I would be very surprised if you have any problems going
directly between them.
As noted by Brad, the FAQ could be clearer but the main point is that you can
always upgrade to a higher num
