If that is the case, then what is the purpose of the dates on the price
database. Shouldn't it fetch as per the date?

I have an issue with how Gnucash fetches exchange rates.
I made an entry on a particular date between two currencies and manually
entered the FX rate in the price editor with the same date.
However the system takes the latest date for the FX rate. How can I correct
