The duplicate entries issue with QIF imports is very common if you have
more than one account in a given QIF import file because there are no
existing entries to compare against during the import. The easiest
solution is to import one account at a time and carefully monitor the
matching step to be
Barry,
One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that while the reconciliation
window is still open you can mak any necessary corrections in any
account register without first closing the reconciliation window. Those
corrections are then added to the panes in the reconciliation window
automatically
Many thanks Murugan, Fred; I've been using GNC for some years now for other
accounting, so double entry is decently familiar (though I don't usually
use the transaction journal). However, I hadn't recognized what was
happening with the two entries, not least because each showed a split to

I suggest simply rename the account to new broker name if you want to keep
reports generated intact.
The name is in no way linked or tied internally anywhere so you can rename as
you like as it is free format text. You can add a "note" transaction in the
register as reminder when the transfer t

Simon,
Welcome to GNUCash!
So having gone through migration of Quicken to GNUCash via QIF export-import
back in 2020 for decades of data in Quicken, it is not a seamless migration as
you hope - and rightfully shouldn’t expected one as GNUCash is not a
like-for-like products as Quicken is.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I had not thought of the re-parent
option. That would be quite easy, although I had embedded a hint at the
broker name in the names of the original set of security accounts, which
would complicate that process a bit if I use it. I know that there is no
need in

I suppose I should just postpone once!!

Imight just create the base brokerage account and reparent the individual stock
and mutual fund accounts into the new brokerage.
Otherwise, zero dollar transactions sending shares only? Note that this would
likely affect capital gains calculations...

Hi,
I am looking for (more) information on how the 'postpone' action works
in a reconsiliation. Does it follow along as you are entering
transactions or do you have to 'reconcile selection' after a set of
transactions, to be able to restart at th
