subaccount for problem transactions nor consciously assign that subaccount

If you look in the folder which contains your gnucash file there should be a
set of backup files. Gnucash creates a backup file. I am assuming you are
using the XML format files and not a database. The file will have a name of
the form
.gnucash
and the backups will have the form
.gnuc

I just installed 3.1-2 on a new Windows 10 machine with a SSD disk. Data
files were copied across from a Windows 7 machine where I was using an
older gnucash version (2.x, will need to boot that machine to check exactly
which version was used).
