Long ago, I changed to having the tabs go down the left side of the window.
That's kept me happy on the tab front for a good while!

Geert, Thanks for the quick response and steering me to the Android support
channel. As for the export/import, I think my expectations were probably
misguided. I had hoped the csv import would be the equivalent of a qif import
but I now see they are totally different. I must explicitly identify column
associations and manually specify the posting of each row. I can see that
provides great flexibility for some needs but for what I'm trying to do
probably not useable. You are correct that I can share gnucash files between
apps but it's only transactions "on the go" that I'm trying to capture with
Android. The app claims that to be its intended purpose, it just crashes when I
try it. I haven't gotten far enough to know how well GnuCash imports qif but
presume it works okay. Thanks for your guidance. You've certainly gotten me

Gnucash for Android is a separate project with its own support channels. I
can't say much of it as I don't use it. The support channel for gnucash for

As for export/import in gnucash, I quickly checked and I agree the way to
select subaccounts is pretty flakey. That should be improved.

A few possible issues that have been reported already are:
- Fails to import if csv data has single \\ characters (Fixed for 3.2)
- Price information is not imported correctly (and probably not exported
either)

You're welcome. The csv importer is indeed very generic. However it also
allows you to create profiles (or "Presets") to save commonly used formats.
Gnucash ships with one preset by default, namely one to interpret a csv file
as if exported by gnucash (using all default export settings).

I believe the tab scrolling issue is something related to Gtk+3, not GnuCash. I
know it?s been talked about somewhat, but I don?t recall if there is a bug
filed on it or not. (this would be a Gtk bug, NOT a GnuCash bug. Gnome just
moved their bug tracker to Github so you?ll need a separate account there to
file one.)

Hi,
I?m running a self-compiled version 3.1 on Linux.
I use sqlite as database format.
If I associate a file to a transaction everything seems fine as long I
have gnucash running.
If I reopen gnucash all file associations seem to be gone.
However with a sqlite database program I can still see the URLs of the
associated files.
I?ve already played with the setting for a relative path.
What could be the solution to this problem?

I can copy the gnucash data from my desk top and back with no problem. However,
when I place the flush card in my laptop it reads as "read only" I did edit the
account and took the place holder check off as instructed and it did not help .
Both computer and laptop or ubuntu 18.04 mate, and have the same user name and
password. I was hoping to be able to travel with the laptop and keep gnucash
current. Any suggestion?

I thought Ubuntu fixed that problem. There was a long standing bug concerning
USB devices mounting as read-only. (a flash card is mounted under the USB
subsystem) It may still be hanging around on some systems, especially if you
upgraded from 16.04 or earlier without a fresh install.
You can probably find plenty of help threads on the web about it. I?m sorry I
don?t recall off hand a quick solution short of logging out and back in. (no
need to shutdown entirely as I recall) Also, this was a Unity problem that was
due to some hold-over code from the old Gnome desktop. (Gtk+2) Since MATE
forked that code, it is possible the bug wasn?t fixed there. (yet)
