If your accounts are in different currencies, which they might be, each one
should be denominated in the correct currency. The parent accounts
(Assets:Current) probably also need to be set up separately for each
currency.
However, I am not a multi-currency user, so I may be wrong

Thanks for the swift reply.
Unchecking "Use Non-SWIFT transaction text" immediately resolved this in
Windows. I will need to go buy something before I can check Linux (my primary
gnucash system).

If my memory is correct there were some issues (I can't remember what they
were now) with the Windows version of 2.6.16 and there was a 2.6.16-1
release shortly afterwards that fixed the issues. Perhaps you should just

Just a wild thought but where did you save your gnucash datafile when you
created it. I keep mine in a GnuCash sub folder under the "My Documents"
folder as I know I've got write access to it there.
