I realise that you are saying that it should have "just worked" but it
didn't. Editing CMakeLists.txt didn't work (perhaps I didn't get it
correct). Specifying GTEST_ROOT on the command line did work.
End result for my file - no change.

I thought I may have run the installed binary so I carefully repeated
the exercise on the built gnucash, got the warning that it was a
developmental version that may not work, and an identical report output
to that which I sent earlier.

calculations.
I attach my Scheduled transaction just for the amounts to be given to
the tax office.
There are also a series of scheduled transactions for the splits in the
GST for vehicle expenses.

Thanks Bryan...that fixed the problem. My g-wrap-install directory had
also been created at / (!)...not sure why. After moving it to
gnucash/lib/g-wrap-install, things compiled cleanly.
