I am attaching a qif file (contains one transaction, generated by MS
Money 2000) importing this to an otherwise empty gnucash causes a fatal
error. I get the following on the terminal. This happens after pressing
next on the currency page (and answering all question with their
defaults).

One priece of sub-optimal behaviour I have noticed with QIF
importation is the association with a specific GNUCASH account. I can
choose the account from the "Accounts" tab after loading it, but the
association is a once-off thing which isn't saved between sessions.
Of course I can choose whate

The QIF problem I've got. I've got a number of Vanguard accounts
that autoexchange between them. When I download QIFs from them for
my account status, all of the auto-exchanges claim to come from (or
go to) Default. This is kind of annoying, and when I try to combine
them together I lose all

Hmm. In the long run, I'd like to have this set up through a
"filtering" infrastructure so that we can tell gnucash how to handle
QIF's coming in from various sources. I suspect that this won't be
the only mangling we'll have to do, a

I can see this either way. The problem is really that your bank is
putting the information i

Hmmm...

The "M" field in the QIF file corresponds to the Memo in gnucash,
not the Description.
Try setting the register to Double mode (under the register/sty
Hi,
One more problem I have found...
My online bank allows me to download transactions in QIF format. When I
import the transactions, everything is imported correctly except for the
descriptions - these remain blank, which leaves me a whole lot of
imported transactions without an indication of w

This is great!

I have since *substantially* revised the code, making it considerably
more robust and featureful.
