Bug 502649 (register transactions may not display on Windows)

Has anyone tried making progress with bug 502649? This is a real annoyance that I hope can be fixed quickly. Building your own GnuCash on Windows fixes the problem, but most Windows users would install from the .exe setup file. Perhaps this a bug in
