For gnome-sudoku, I think the po file being generated is from the Mallard
docs.
I just don't want the docbook being translated for anyt
Are these documents using the new build tools yet, with itstool? If
so, it's pretty easy to add an attribute that will make the entire
document non-translatable, effectively creating an empty PO file.
That might confuse people, though.

I was considering deleting the gnome.sudoku.xml file, but have been
hesitant to do that since the Mallard version is not fully complete yet.
So, do you mean placing a 'do not translate' mark on the xml (docbook)
versions, letting translators know not to translate? I can see how this
