I am not familiar with Python. But for C, if you have a costom cell
renderer, you will need to implement its accessibility peer. Its base
class will be GailRendererCellClass, GailTextCell would be a good
example. And you need to register your accessibility class so that GAIL
knows

Yes, it's a separate tool but it depends on liblouis to do all the
transcription. In addition, it will add an accessible front-end, easy
addition of new tables and the ability to be called by OpenOffice.org to do
on-the-fly transcriptions.
It's intended that it will follow all the GNOME guidelines

That's an interesting discussion. Og b. Maciel will very likely also be
at the pre-conference, talking about code-participation from outsiders.
The development of this a11y tool seems like a good example of the
challenges and possibilities for this.

We were right now setting up the requirements for the Braille
transcriptor, and it's really great that there is already an
application like this in development.
I think the best approach is that we start contributing to dots
instead of writing a new application from the scratch. We could work
